Who We Are

A women-owned Austin studio — equity first.

Hook & Eye is a women owned, Austin Texas based company. We believe in fairness for all. That's why we prioritize equity in all of our projects. We believe that fair pay, supportive environments, set hours, and professional practices should be the norm. By creating a workspace where employees are encouraged to pursue professional development, we can better serve our clients.

Meet the Makers

The team behind every stitch.

A women-led five-person studio, each with a distinct specialization, working together on film, television, and theatre commissions.

California — team portrait

California

Has opinions about thread tension. They are correct. Will quietly fix your sleeve while you're still apologizing for it.

Emma Craig — team portrait

Emma Craig

Treats fabric like a willing collaborator and deadlines like a strongly-worded suggestion. Pins your hem in three minutes flat. The pin will be straight.

Samantha Gashette — team portrait

Beading. Draping. Drafting. Panicking about timelines. Equally at home in all four — mostly the first three. The math is always already done.

Lindsey Rae

Owner & Founder

Captain of the chaos, holder of the actual measuring tape. Started Hook & Eye on the radical hypothesis that great costuming and fair pay aren't supposed to be mutually exclusive. The hypothesis keeps holding.

Stitcher

The stitcher. Yes, that's the official title — she made the business cards herself. Has personally fed an undisclosed but alarming quantity of thread through machines everyone agrees should be retired. They do not retire. Neither does she.
