Dear <<RECIPIENT_SALUTATION>>,
I'm Lindsey, the principal at Hook And Eye Co. — a costume and garment shop in Austin, Texas. We built the <<GARMENT_OR_GOWN_DESCRIPTION>> worn by <<WEARER_NAME_OR_ROLE>> at <<FESTIVAL_OR_EVENT_NAME>> in <<YEAR_OR_SEASON>>.
I'm writing to ask your permission, on behalf of <<FESTIVAL_OR_EVENT_ORGANIZATION>>, to display your organization's name (and logo, if available and you're willing to share specifications) in Hook And Eye Co.'s "Staged at" partner-credentials section — a small social-proof row on our website (and corresponding sections in print marketing) that names the festivals, events, and traditions where our work has appeared. The intent is past-event documentation: showing prospective clients which festival traditions and events our work has been part of, not suggesting any current or ongoing formal affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, or partnership.
Once any embargo has lifted, the name (and logo, if shared) would appear in the following places, all of them past-event documentation:
- "Staged at" partner-credentials row on our website at <<HOOK_AND_EYE_WEBSITE_URL>>
- The corresponding project page describing the build (linked from the partner-credentials row)
- Print marketing materials — brochures, exhibition or trade-show panels, presentation decks for prospective clients
In every appearance where your organization's name or logo is displayed, we commit to the following:
- No suggestion of affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement: your name and logo will appear only in clear past-event documentation context, never in product packaging, advertising, or partnership claims.
- Past-event scope only: the credit appears in connection with the specific past appearance named above, not as a general "ongoing partner" or "preferred vendor" claim.
- Linking and attribution: we'd link to your organization's website where the format allows, and follow any preferred attribution wording, hashtags, logo specifications, or visual conventions your organization shares.
- Festival-tradition titles honored: if your organization has a tradition of identifying the bearer by year or role (queen, duchess, court member, krewe captain, debutante, etc.), we'd follow your preferred phrasing.
- Per-year scope: this permission covers the <<YEAR_OR_SEASON>> appearance specifically; if we build for <<FESTIVAL_OR_EVENT_NAME>> in future years, we'd request permission separately for each year's work.
Separately, if you'd be willing, we'd also welcome permission to display photographs of the finished garment in the same past-event context, subject to the pre-event embargo above. The name+logo ask above is our primary request; the photography ask is optional and may follow on a separate timeline if your organization prefers.
This permission would be non-exclusive, would not impair any of your rights in your name, logo, or organizational identity, and would remain in effect until you ask us to retire the display — in which case we'd remove your name and logo from forward-going use within thirty days of your written request.
If this works for you, a brief written confirmation by reply email or signature on the line below is all we need. If your organization has a different protocol — board review, archival approval, or a standing photography policy we should follow — please let us know and we'll work within it.
Thank you for considering this — and for the tradition that gave this work its occasion.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Rae
